Save Dozens of Hours per Project Using Ideate BIMLink for General Data Management Tasks – Part 1

See how much time our Revit users reported saving when they used Ideate BIMLink on General Data Management Tasks

Whether you are working on project-specific Revit tasks or those you perform on every Revit project, Ideate BIMLink can speed the process and enhance the accuracy of your Revit model data by pulling model data into Excel where you can easily make changes, quickly verify the accuracy, and push it all back into Revit within just minutes.

Below is information on how much time our Revit users reported saving when they used Ideate BIMLink for the tasks shown below. While you may only perform some of them occasionally, each one of them can take a significant amount of time and energy if performed natively in Revit.

Ideate BIMLink ROI

What’s Your Return on Investment?

How should you assess the value of Ideate BIMLink to your business? Start by reviewing the chart above along with previously published data for a full picture of how much time can be saved, then compare that number to the number of projects you have and your software purchase price.

For example, a single standalone license of Ideate BIMLink is approximately US$795. If you have 20 projects per year and only save four hours per project, that’s 80 hours saved per year. The 2018 AIA Small Firm Compensation Report lists the average designer salary at approximately $60K per year. If we assume a corresponding hourly rate of $29 (which would exclude overhead), you will have a payback (over covering software costs) of more than US$1,500 each year.

For larger firms, network licensing can return an even higher return on investment. For example, the cost of a single seat is approximately $2,000 per year. If you again assume only four hours saved per project, a higher burdened salary rate of $50, and that you have 50 projects, you will have a payback of more than $8,000 per year. Bear in mind that the average customer is reporting dozens of hours saved per project on the tasks featured in this post alone, so your payback will likely be much higher.
