RTC Asia 2015 || Sept. 10 - Sept. 12

Ideate Software will be at RTC Asia 2015 from Thursday, the 10th of September to Saturday the 12th of September. Please stop by our booth (#13) to meet us in person and discuss all things BIM and Revit related. Richard Taylor, our Technical evangelist, will be presenting on auditing Revit projects. Be sure to take in his session and feel confident about the data in our Revit projects.

AUDITING YOUR REVIT PROJECT:

Richard Taylor, our Technical Evangelist will be presenting "Auditing Your Revit Project With Ideate Explorer" during session 2.2. Auditing and finding problematic data in a Revit project is a universal problem. In this class we will be using Ideate Explorer as a way to both uncover and fix potential problems within the Revit project. If you've ever wondered:

  • Why is this file so slow?
  • Where's my stuff?
  • How can I make my life easier?

Richard's presentation will answer these questions and more, and all attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Ideate Explorer! To find out more about Ideate Software, we will be happy to chat when we see you at RTC Asia, or, any other day by contacting [email protected]

The fifth annual North America Revit Technology Conference was held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia on July 22nd through July 25th.

As part of the Keynote address on Thursday, July 23rd, Jim Balding brought to the stage the two founders of Revit Technology. (Leonid Raiz and Irwin Jungreis) A lot has changed since Charles River Software was formed in 1997, became Revit Technology in 2000, and was then acquired by Autodesk in 2002. Many "war" stories were told about the early days of Revit, and the early customers who signed up with the infant technology. Jim Balding, the event chairman of RTC North America, sat behind the "interview" desk and asked the two founders some intriguing questions about the early days. (Did you know it was originally going to be called Perspective?) One by one, Jim invited original Revit Technology employees on stage for a short interview and tidbits about the early days. Ideate Software's own Technical Evangelist, Richard Taylor, took his turn on the interview couch.

"It was a huge honor and quite humbling to be onstage with so many people that changed the profession of architecture, engineering, and design in such a dramatic way," said Mr. Taylor. "No one could predict the huge impact that Revit would have on the industry back in 2000 when it was first released. It's quite an honor to have the experience of working on Revit for over 15 years and being able to see the vast changes from the prerelease software to the current version. I'm thrilled to be part of Ideate Software and continue that tradition of innovation, productivity, and efficiency as we work to enhance the BIM experience for our customers."

Some of the Orignal Revit employees with the two founders, Leonid and Irwin seated on the lower left of the group. Ideate Software's Richard Taylor, third from the right on the couch.

LRUG membership required to register Project parameters, key parameters, family parameters, shared parameters, parameter groups, and GUIDs - it can be overwhelming to dive into the world of Revit data. A well-organized data structure will bring about a higher quality handover document and reduce scheduling headaches down the road. You can't create custom content without first understanding the Revit data structure for each kind of parameter.

18 March 2015 5:30pm-8:30pm

Buro Happold 71 Newman Street London, W1T 3EQ

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the common pitfalls of poorly organized Revit data
  • Learn when and how to use a shared parameter and when a project parameter of schedule key would be preferred
  • Understand how to best manage parameters for use across linked files
  • Identify common strategies for resolving poorly managed shared parameters
Meeting Schedule:
  • 5:30pm - Registration & Networking
