Ideate Software’s Development Manager, Jesika Digregorio, Tells Us Why Ideate StyleManager is her Favorite Ideate Software Tool

Jesika DiGregorio

Ideate Software’s Development Manager Jesika Digregorio is one of the primary developers of Ideate StyleManager, which is among her favorite Ideate Software solutions. In this article, she shares the software's inspiration, highlights some of its functionality, and tells us about how she built her career as a software developer.

How did the idea for Ideate StyleManager originate?

Ideate StyleManager made its debut in 2019, born from the requests of Autodesk Revit users who were looking for a better way to find families with CAD imports. Following the circulation of this idea across various channels, including the support desk, the development team and I began working on a solution that took on a life of its own. We wanted to help Revit users uncover where object and other styles are applied and reveal how they impact the look and usability of a Revit project.

What did you like most about the process of developing Ideate StyleManager?

StyleManager is meant for someone who needs to clean up files. This person has to make executive decisions about standards for the company, so it’s higher-level work that touches all aspects of a Revit project. Some are narrow, such as material assets, and some are broad, such as object styles and patterns. The most fascinating part of developing the tool was discovering the unexpected relationships between various aspects of a Revit project. It exposed the mechanics of Revit, and this has made us better developers.

What are your top two tips for using Ideate StyleManager?

Ideate StyleManager is built to help users easily find and purge style inconsistencies in Revit files.

Use Parameters to See Inside Families

Using StyleManager, Revit users find the families that are the source of the parameters without opening each family manually.

Autofix Styles from Usage Reports

Not only does StyleManager allow users to see where styles are being used, but it empowers them to fix inconsistent styles with a few clicks.

About Jesika Digregorio

Jesika has always cultivated a fascination with computers, due in part to her father’s career as a database manager. “Computers were always around, and it made me comfortable at an early age,” she explained. After completing a degree in architecture, Jesika pursued her technical interests by taking additional courses in AutoCAD and Revit and landing a position on Ideate Software’s support desk. With time, she was inspired to write a script to support license delivery, effectively launching her transition to the company’s development team. “Software development in architecture is a sweet spot for me and, while I initially thought the role was beyond my reach, I now can’t imagine doing anything else.”
