Jacobs Turns to Ideate Software for a Solution to a Revit Challenge

In pursuit of a more efficient method to manage and track sheet revisions in Revit, Jacobs - a global professional services firm with over 77,000 employees - turned to Ideate Software for a solution. Paul Cook, a BIM and CAD Technician at Jacobs, identified a limitation within native Revit tools, namely, the inability to view sheet revision history within a schedule.

Leveraging his familiarity with Ideate Software, Paul explored the Document Issue Records (DIR) workflow outlined on Ideate's help pages. This approach enabled him to extract, review, and edit sheet revision data without using any Revit tools. By utilizing Ideate’s macro-enabled spreadsheet template, he also successfully generated a customized sheet schedule that included comprehensive revision history tailored to Jacobs’ specific project requirements.

This innovative use of Ideate Software not only streamlined the documentation process but also demonstrated the platform’s flexibility in supporting highly customized data workflows. Inspired by the results, Paul sees significant potential to further harness Ideate Software’s capabilities to develop additional tailored solutions across Jacobs’ operations.
