Unlocking the Potential of Big Data

How Data can Influence Business Decisions in our AEC Industries

Recently I had the pleasure of speaking with Devon Tilly, the host of The Art of Construction (AOC) podcast, where AOC “explores the world of construction with some of the best minds in the industry.”

We discussed a topic I’m passionate about: the data collection explosion and how data can influence business decisions in our AEC industries. I also provided a recap of Ideate’s involvement in Data Day at Digital Built Week, where AOC is the official media sponsor, and discussed my thoughts on the future of construction and technology.

Devon opened the session with:

“The data explosion continues without an end in sight. Firms are struggling with the velocity of this data. Some AEC firms have hired people specifically for data analysis. Other firms are promoting from within. And some firms are ignoring the issue totally, and I think that’s most of us.”

Want to hear our conversation about the current state of data collection and usage as well as the potential of data to grow a business? Here’s a link to the podcast. If you have any questions or want to discuss data more, please let us know. We’re all interested in the topic; our Revit productivity tools take BIM data out of silos and allow it to be practically shared and used throughout the design and build process.
