Ideate Software Tools vs. Free or Cheap Apps

In November, two of our UK team members attended leading construction industry events to glean insights about trends that we will use when enhancing our existing Revit plug-in tools and developing new ones. While at the conferences, they also met with some peers that work at other third-party software developers and Revit users who have tried free or cheap apps that purport to solve the same issues of our tools.

I was thrilled to hear that Ideate Software continues to maintain a strong reputation in the industry, both as a software developer and an employer. I was perplexed to hear that many Revit users continue to choose tools with low upfront costs that are incredibly expensive in terms of time spent trying to get them to perform as described. That time wasted frustrates users, can lead to missed deadlines and impacts the bottom line.

Developing, marketing and growing solutions that stand up to the rigors of a deep dataset is complicated and needs far deeper knowledge, testing and understanding than most companies are willing to invest. When a company makes the investments needed, they charge appropriately.

I am proud and delighted that we at Ideate Software have the fortitude to develop software that actually saves companies time and money by eliminating tedious Revit tasks and freeing time for valuable design activities. We will stay on our path, listen to our users, respect our team and respect the complexities of the projects our customers invest so much in, and we will continue to add value, save our customers’ time and provide clear returns on investments.
