Ideate Cares: Spreading Love to Seniors This Valentine’s Day

Outside of work, we all have activities that bring us joy—whether it’s hiking, fishing, traveling, or simply spending quality time with loved ones. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance means making time for what matters most, and for some, that includes giving back to their communities.

Earlier this month, our Social Media and Marketing Specialist, Aleksandra “Ola” Golda, donated her time to a cause related to senior citizens: chronic loneliness. While loneliness can affect anyone, it is especially prevalent among the elderly, making efforts like hers even more impactful.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the elderly, and I do my best to do little things when I see them alone in public like strike up a conversation or simply offering a smile”, said Ola.

About a week before Valentine’s Day, she came across The Cupid Project on social media, a heartfelt initiative with a mission to “Spread Love One Greeting Card at a Time.” The goal of the project is to annually make cards and deliver them to nursing homes (or a senior citizen living community) on Valentine’s Day.

As soon as I learned about it, I knew I wanted to get involved,” Ola shared. “I immediately reached out to my friends, inviting them to a ‘Gal’entine’s party and asked everyone to bring some art supplies for us all to make the Valentine’s Day cards. I also asked them to bring any unopened and unused makeup, skincare, or hygiene products so we could put together little goodie bags—things we often have in excess but never use.

Ola and her friends gathered the Friday prior, making about 30 cards, and many goodie bags. She then added chocolate on each card, to put the final touch of a perfect sweet treat for each person to enjoy. The day before Valentine’s Day, she delivered them to the elderly living community where her grandma used to live at.

It was such a special way to celebrate love and community”, Ola reflected. “I’m so happy and incredibly grateful that my friends wanted to join me on this initiative. I truly hope we put a smile on at least one person’s face”.
