Excel Naming Conventions for Revit Projects with Ideate BIMLink

Ideate BIMLink associates an Excel spreadsheet with a link saved in a Revit project using the following information:

  1. The name of Excel worksheet (tab name) must exactly match the link name.
  2. Each Excel column heading must exactly match the corresponding link property name.
  3. The first Excel column must contain a valid Revit element id.  These ids are assigned by Revit and are used to uniquely identify an element within the Revit model.

Important:   If any of the above information is changed, Ideate BIMLink with not be able to associate the Excel spreadsheet with the link used to create that spreadsheet.  For more information, see Import Messages when importing Revit to Excel.

Tip:  The name of the Excel file (.xls or .xlsx) is arbitrary and can be changed to identify different spreadsheets created by the same link.
