Creating Links with Ideate BIMLink for Revit
The first time that Ideate BIMLink is used in a Revit project, the list of Links will be empty and the Quick Start Guide will display on the left.
New Links can be added to the Revit project, template or family file by one of these methods:
- Browse currently available content
- Start from scratch, By Category
- Start from an existing Revit Schedule, By Schedule
Regardless of the method, select the New... button on the main dialog to get started.

Selecting New… will launch the New Link dialog as shown below. The next step will be to select the best method for the task at hand.
- If you are interested in learning how other Ideate BIMLink customers are leveraging their BIM data, we suggest you start with the Browse method. This method can also be used to load link definitions saved from other project.
- If you are more of a data expert and want to start from scratch, we recommend you select the By Category method.
- If you have a schedule in your Revit project and you want to export that same data to Excel, we recommend that you begin with the By Schedule method.
