Review the elevation values of devices, fixtures, or equipment
Find light fixtures or air terminals that are 'flipped'

Review the Elevation Values

The offset and elevation properties for devices, equipment and fixtures is an important detail within a Building Information Model that can easily be overlooked when reviewing 2D views.  Ideate Query can be used to discover quickly if any of these elements have been assigned to the wrong elevation or offset.

To find the elevation value for Devices:

  1. Start on the Explore tab with the Display set to Entire Project, the Sort by to Category and the Filter to <Model>.
  2. Type "device" in the Search box to isolate only the device elements.
  3. Select the checkbox at the Category level to select all devices.
  4. Next, select the Ideate Query button.
  5. Type "elev" into the Search box.  Ideate Query will filter the properties and only display those that contain the word "elev".
  6. Select the Instance property called "Elevation" found within the Instance list of properties.
  7. All possible values will display on the right-hand side.
  8. Refine your current selection by selecting one or more of the checkboxes, then use the Select button to return to Ideate Explorer.
  9. From within the Ideate Explorer results window, double-click a device instance to open a view where that instance can be seen. The elevation value for any selected device can be changed via the Properties palette.

Find Light Fixtures or Air Terminals that are 'Flipped'

Light fixtures or other work plane hosted elements can become inadvertently flipped during placement and result in incorrect rendering, missing room or space location data or in improper analytic results.

To find and fix work plane 'flipped' light fixtures:

  1. Start on the Explore tab with the Display set to Entire Project, the Sort by to Category and the Filter to <Model>.
  2. Select the checkbox at the Category level to select all Light Fixtures.
  3. Next, select the Ideate Query button.
  4. Type "flip" into the Search box. Ideate Query will filter the properties and only display those that contain the word "flip".
  5. Select the Instance property called "Is Work Plan Flipped" found within the Instance list of properties.
  6. All possible values will display on the right-hand side.
  7. Refine your current selection by selecting one or more of the checkboxes, then use the Select button to return to Ideate Explorer.
  8. From within the Ideate Explorer results window, double-click a device instance to open a view where that instance can be seen. The element will display a small work plane flip icon that can be toggled.
