Standalone License Transferring

The topic below pertains to all Ideate Software solutions except the pre-2017 versions of Ideate Explorer, Ideate BIMLink and Ideate Sticky. For information on activating those older products, please refer to this page.

You can legally transfer your standalone license from your one computer to another computer when owned by the same person. You do this by returning (deactivating) your license on the original computer and activating the same license on a new computer. An activated license for Ideate Software is a standalone license associated with a single machine. Your license can be activated on as many computers at the same time as the number of Subscription seats purchased.

The number of allowed transfers is limited, a confirmation window will inform the user about the remaining number of transfers.  

You do not need to transfer your license if you are running a trial copy. If you have not already activated your license, please see Standalone License Activation.

Transfer License Process

  1. On your original computer, access the Manage License Dialog then select the "Return" button.
  2. If the license has been successfully returned, your license status will now say "Returned license to server" as shown below.
  3. On your new computer, you may now activate the software using your valid Ideate Software license code.
