Reset Licensing to Start a Trial on a Network Licensed PC

Ideate is upgrading our licensing systems, starting with the releases for Revit version year 2019.

The new, streamlined process eliminates the need for activating multiple times when installing several versions. Similarly, when the user installs the next version of an already activated product, it will be automatically licensed as well.

New releases will now be using a 'One-License' system, which means all installed versions use the same license type (Network or Standalone).
Trial usage is now by default only supported with Standalone licenses.

To get your software into a trial state when the previous versions are network licensed, you would need to do the following:

  • Go to the 'C:\ProgramData\Ideate\YourProductName' folder, look for the 'license.config' file
  • Delete the license.config
  • Start the software, choose 'I would like to start a trial'
