Migrating a FlexLM License Server

If you are migrating the license server in conjunction with your Subscription renewal, please let us know ahead of time, otherwise we will automatically send out a new license file with the server info we have on file.

To migrate your licenses to a new physical or virtual FlexLM server:

Provision your new Windows server. (Linux is not supported)

Configure your new license service per these instructions. (Don’t forget to configure the Firewall!)

Point all users to the new server. Consider if this is a good time to update everyone to the latest release of Ideate Software as well. This is especially important if you add Ideate solutions to your Revit deployment and do not regularly update it afterwards. Ideate Software Installer is here to help you with this task.

Note: Simultaneous operation of the old and new license server for testing is allowed for up to 7 days.
