Editing in Excel

Some formatting methods within Excel have no corresponding equivalent within the Revit Schedule Header environment. Follow these tips to ensure the highest visual fidelity between the Excel file and the Ideate Sticky.

Borders & Gridlines

Border Width

All cell borders are displayed according to the mapped line styles. Read: Mapping Excel Line Styles in Ideate Sticky for Revit. The width and color of this line can therefore be edited within the Revit project or template file as desired.

Currently, Ideate Sticky is only supporting horizontal and vertical cell borders, and does not support diagonal cell borders.

Grid Lines

The gridlines are displayed according to the mapped line styles. Read: Mapping Excel Line Styles in Ideate Sticky for Revit. The width and color of this line can therefore be edited within the Revit project or template file as desired. To learn how to turn these on and off within the Sticky refer to the topic: Preparing the Excel File in Ideate Sticky for Revit.

Text

Text Indents

Revit schedule header cells do not natively support left-indents. However, Ideate Sticky is able to simulate this by adding spaces at the beginning of each line. The number of spaces used for the left-indented cell is calculated to be as close as possible to the Excel indent setting which uses the unit 'average character width'.

For cells with 'wrap-text' enabled, the left-indent will only happen for the first line and after each subsequent hard-return (ALT-Enter). If you need to have both a left-indent and text wrapping, consider these workarounds:

Spaces added to the end of a cell's value are not supported by the Revit Schedule header, so if a right-indent is needed the workaround would be to add an additional column to the right, then merge cells in the original column that are not indented with the new column.

Text Rotation

The Revit Schedule Header does not support angled text, so 'stick' to either vertical or horizontal. When Excel text is near horizontal, which is defined as between -45 and 45 degrees, it will display within the Sticky as horizontal (0 degrees). When Excel text is near vertical it will display within in Sticky as vertical (90 degrees).

Text Alignment

For best results, avoid the use of these Vertical Text Alignments within Revit: Default, Distributed, and Justify. These alignments have no corresponding value within Revit and will be mapped to Vertical-Middle.

For best results, avoid the use of these Horizontal Text Alignments within Revit: Center Across Selection, Default, Distributed, Fill, and Justify. These alignments have no corresponding value within Revit and will be mapped to Horizontal-Center.
