Which license type is the best for me or my organization?

For individual users or dedicated licenses, standalone licenses are recommended.

For teams of any size, Cloud network licensing would most likely be the better choice. For teams working in security sensitive environments, including air-gapped networks, LAN-based (local server) network licensing is available as well.

How many licenses do I need for my company?

Most of Ideate software titles are intended to be used daily by every Revit user. For medium to larger sized organizations, we recommend seriously considering Enterprise licensing which provides the best value per license. We are happy to discuss your individual situation and provide a recommendation, please reach out to sales for more info.

What is an Enterprise license?

An Enterprise license gives you access to unlimited seats of all Ideate Software titles, including any new software titles released during your subscription period. You can run up to three servers, with unlimited seats each.

What do I need to run a network license server?

Ideate (local) network licenses use the Flexera FlexLM license manager, a highly reliable and proven tech. In general, any PC capable of running a Windows OS will be sufficient, a server operating system is not required.

What options do I have for a high security or air-gapped network?

For highly secure networks we recommend to either use a separate instance of a network license manager, or off-line activations for standalone licenses. In both cases it will be necessary to move a text-based file into the secured environment.

How do I transfer my standalone license?

The license transfer is done by returning the license on the current PC, then activating the same license code on another through the ‘Manage license’ dialog. See more.

My PC got replaced/reinstalled, now my standalone license no longer activates

If your PC crashed or you forgot to return the active license before your PC got retired, you need to contact Ideate support and we will release the license on the back end. If you have a multi-seat license, please make sure to provide the computer name for the machine from which you wish to release the license.

What happens if I do not renew my subscription?

Simply put, your license will stop working. You can later choose to purchase a new subscription and we will reactivate your standalone license code or issue a new license file.
